Celebrating Mexican Independence and National Guacamole Day
At Verde Kitchen & Cocktails, we believe any reason is a good one to celebrate. There are two very important days coming up that are worth planning a fiesta for. The first of these is Mexican Independence Day. Falling on September 16th, this commemorates the day Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang a church bell in the town of Dolores in 1810 and gave a cry for battle known as the Crito de Dolores (Cry of Dolores). This was the beginning of a long, arduous battle for Mexican independence from Spain, which lasted until 1821.
While you don’t need to start a war to throw off the chains of colonial oppression, you can come down to Verde Kitchen to help celebrate Mexican Independence Day, which also coincides with another reason for a libation, National Guacamole Day. Not only does guacamole taste delicious, but it also has several health benefits that you should be happy about.
Guacamole is full of Vitamin E and folate, both of which have been beneficial for maintaining a healthy heart. This nutrient-infused condiment also contains a healthy amount of potassium. One of the key ingredients in guacamole, Lime juice, is extremely beneficial for your digestive tract.
