Enjoy a Mojito During Happy Hour
Mojitos are refreshing, light cocktails that are a favorite of many. If you enjoy the minty flavors of mojitos, get ready for National Mojito Day on July 11. Grab a mojito during happy hour at Verde Kitchen & Cocktails.
Mojitos are traditionally made with white rum, lime juice, sugar, mint, and sparkling water. This light and refreshing blend of ingredients is perfect for a warm summer evening.
Did you know the history of the mojito dates all the way back to 1586? According to legend, Sir Francs Drake was looking for a cure for scurvy and dysentery after invading Cartagena de Indias. The solution he found was the mojito. Sir Francs Drake’s mojito was made with aguardiente (distilled South American liquor), sugarcane, and mint. The drink not only reduced the symptoms of scurvy and dysentery, but it also tasted pretty good. The legend says the mojito was created on La Bodeguita del Medio, a Cuban island, at a bar that still claims to be the birthplace of the mojito to this day.
