The Origin of Tres Leches Cake
If you haven’t tried our Tres Leches Cake, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s a simple dessert, but we craft everything to the utmost quality at Verde Kitchen & Cocktails Bar. We want to delve into the history and development of this traditional Mexican dessert.

The Origin of Tres Leches Cake
Tres Leches cake is a simple pastry. However, like many traditional desserts, there have been many modifications and adaptations over the ages. The original version is a spongy layer of cake mixed with three kinds of milk (hence, Tres Leches): evaporated milk, condensed milk, and thick cream.
How old is this cake? Nowadays, you can find it in almost any Mexican restaurant, bakery, or store, but it’s only been around since the 1800s. Originally from Mexico, it became really popular in Nicaragua, before spreading all throughout Central and South America. There’s a little controversy over whether it actually started in Nicaragua first, but the consensus is that Mexico gets the credit.
Tres Leches Cake is a popular celebratory dessert, particularly for ladies’ events like quinceaneras, weddings, and so forth. It’s also popular for birthday parties in Tex-Mex restaurants. Regardless of the occasion, you can count on a delicious, milky, spongy sweet taste whenever you bite into a piece of Tres Leches Cake.
